Well, I guess I have written my last Marathon Mom article. The Monterey Herald has decided to focus on a some new areas and figured interest would wane since I did not make the Olympic Marathon team in January. Probably true. I have enjoyed sharing some of my racing and daily experiences with all of you. I appreciate all of the "good lucks, "go for its," and even the "hang in there!" while I am running, though "slow down" is my favorite. Though my brief stint at writing may be over, I am still planning on running the Olympic Track and Field Trials in June. In 2008 I placed 5th in the 10,000 meters while training for Beijing, so let's see what happens when I get to completely focus on the event. It will be a tough team to make, just like the marathon, but I am not willing to give up on my second Olympic Team just yet. Check out my Athlete Facebook page to see how things unfold.
Thanks,
Blake

After Blake Russell competed for the U.S. in 2008 Beijing Olympics her life changed drastically. In 2009, she gave birth to Quin and the already active Russell household in Pacific Grove turned it up a notch. Russell is now back in training, hoping to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics while making an Olympian effort to be a good wife and mother.
Thanks for all your writing. Very best to you. I hope to see you in Eugene when you make the 10,000 meter Olympic team.
